The Holy Spirit: Who he is and what he does

Bible Verses on the Holy Spirit

I don’t know much about the Holy Spirit.  I feel like I feel the Holy Spirit even less, if that is even how we experience him.  I want to document some of the Bible passages that talk about the Holy Spirit, so that he can be more readily in my mind.

1 Corinthians 6:19

19 Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own;

John 14:26

26 But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.

Romans 8:26

26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.

Galatians 5:22-23

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

The Holy Spirit is crucial for us now

Wow! After looking at these verses, it is evident to me that the Holy Spirit is vital to our walk with God.  He is a helper to us in many ways seen in these few verses.  I am also convicted by the first passage that we are not our own.

What a beautiful person of the Trinity!  I don’t often expect much from the Holy Spirit.  But now having looked a little at the Holy Spirit’s role, I want this to change.  I want to feel further equipped in this life by having the Spirit within me advocating, interceding, teaching, reminding and allowing me to produce fruitfulness to God.  I want this to shape my thoughts, words and actions.
